ICE Agents Detain Mother and Daughter at SFO Terminal
Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in plainclothes detained Angelina Lopez-Jimenez and her daughter Wendy Godinez-Lopez Sunday evening in Terminal 3 at San Francisco International Airport, near the United Airlines departure gates. DHS said the family had an outstanding deportation order since 2019. Video of the arrest — showing the woman pinned to the floor as a child cries nearby — spread rapidly on social media. SFPD officers were present but did not intervene: the city’s sanctuary policy limits police cooperation with federal immigration agencies. Mayor Daniel Lurie called the scene “unpleasant.” Senator Scott Wiener demanded ICE agents be removed from the airport. Media reports indicate the family has been deported to Guatemala.

The crash killed Diego Cardoso de Oliveira, 40, Matilde Moncado Ramos Pinto, 38, and their two sons — one-year-old Joaquim and three-month-old Cauê. DA Brooke Jenkins called the sentence unjust. A petition demanding harsher punishment gathered 13,000 signatures.
